Abstract

The principal findings of Soviet and US Arctic Basin expeditions during the period 1955-1959 are summarized. Topics include: bottom topography; geological history; physical and chemical properties of the water masses; changes of water temperature and salinity; mixing; current and ice drift; and tidal phenomena.
