OPTICAL OBSERVATIONS OF THE ARTIFICIAL EARTH-SATELLITES,

Abstract

A camera equipped with a Boyer 'Saphir' objective (F=450 mm, D/F = 1:4.5), and with a chopper occulting the object, is being used to obtain a satellite trace exhibiting a number of interruptions which are recorded by means of an oscillograph. With a good ephemeris of predicted satellite positions, this camera makes it possible to achieve a precision of = 1' and = 0.05 sec. (Author)
