WINTER SPACE CORRELATIONS OF PRESSURE, TEMPERATURE, AND DENSITY TO 16 KM,

Abstract

The winter vertical and horizontal correlations between pressure, temperature, and density at fixed geopotential heights, to 16 km, are presented for 27 observation stations in the Atlantic Ocean and Europe. Many figures are shown to depict the decay of correlation both in the horizontal and in the vertical direction. A small effort directed toward improving the simple Markov decay function met with little success. (Author)
