METHOD OF ACCELERATING A GAS FLOW TO HYPERSONIC VELOCITIES WITH THE AID OF A JET NOZZLE,

Abstract

A method was devised for accelerating a gas flow to hypersonic velocities with the aid of a jet nozzle. To reduce the harmful effect of the boundary layer, the flow is sharply expanded by increasing the through section of the nozzle behind its initial section, producing deep rarefaction at flow output.
