AN INVESTIGATION OF FLUORIDE OPTICAL GLASSES,

Abstract

A number of systematic experiments were conducted on the fluoride optical glasses, primarily glasses of the fluoride-phosphate systems. The vitrification regions for these glasses were determined, and their physicochemical properties, such as refractive index, density, hardness, devitrifying ability and chemical stability were measured. Laws of variation were established for these properties. The possible applications of these new grades of optical glasses are also discussed.
