Abstract
Two tubes were tested to ascertain the best range of gamma a for variable gain operation. The lower gamma a tube provides the best gain control. Two three-helix, variable gain tubes were tested. The gain variation was greater than anticipated, and noise figure and saturated power output exceeded allowable limits. (Author)
