APPLICATION OF SEMI-CONDUCTOR DEVICES TO HIGH POWER DUPLEXERS.

Abstract

Experiments were performed to determine configurations of TR and ATR structures loaded with many diodes. Although the optimum configuration did not evolve so far, much was learned for use in the final design. Specifically, the geometry of coaxial structures where diodes are mounted radially for equal power sharing, and the location of diodes from the main transmission line were pin-pointed. The results were somewhat better for the TR configuration in terms of bandpass and loss per unit of incident power, but this is not considered finalized at this stage of the program. Experimental results were also obtained on the phase shift duplexer approach. The phase shift per section achieved was about 2 degrees whereas about twice that would be desirable. The duplexer capability achieved in these initial attempts is given. This capability is based on calculation, and was not actually measured. It is a guide, however, to future improvements. (Author)
