EXCITATION OF THE FIRST NEGATIVE SYSTEM OF O2(+) BY A PROTON BEAM IN AIR AND OXYGEN,

Abstract

Preliminary results of a further laboratory study are reported and concern the excitation of the bands of the O2(+) first negative system by 40 kev proton beams in air and oxygen at low pressures. The resulting emission spectra have been investigated over the pressure range .1 to .001 mm. Hg., and over the wavelength range 2300 to 7000 Angstroms.
