MIXED ACIDS ANALYSIS BY NMR.

Abstract

Temperature dependence data were completed and are included in this report. Wet chemical analysis of the eight samples received from Radford (R1-R8) was completed with satisfactory precision and the results are presented. The bulk of the effort was directed toward improving instrumentation presently on hand to achieve the required 1% accuracy in N14 intensity measurements. Based upon 23 measurements of R8, a standard deviation of 3.9% has been obtained; but there has been an apparent improvement in the procedure for obtaining the integrals since then, and the data given in this report are considered to demonstrate the resulting improvement in accuracy. The N14 signal intensities from samples R1, R2, R7, and R8 were compared, and the ratios may be interpreted as supporting the viewpoint that total nitrogen (HNO3 + oxides) is being measured.
