INORGANIC LASER MATERIALS.

Abstract

The objective of this program is the development of laser materials. Laser action has been with two host unary oxides (Gd203 and La203) doped with Nd+(+3), emphasis is now being placed on the improvement of their crystal quality and performance efficiency, as well as an extension of these studies to other primary additives. In the case of the host binary oxides, theoretical and experimental research is currently being conducted to evaluate GdAlO3, MgO.Al2O3, and BeO.Al2O3 as laser hosts. To cope with the manifold problems associated with crystal growth of polynary oxides, a simultaneous study of hybridized growth techniques is accompanying this activity.
