UPTAKE OF DOPAMINE BY THE STORAGE GRANULES OF THE ADRENAL MEDULLA IN VITRO,

Abstract

Large amounts of dopamine are taken up by the amine storage granules of the cow adrenal medulla when the granules are incubated at + 31 C in a solution containing dopamine. At this temperature, the amine accumulates even against an apparent concentration gradient but at O C only small amounts--if any at all--are incorporated. The amine seems to be bound in the granules but is released on osmotic lysis of the granules. (Author)
