RELATIONSHIPS FOR ESTIMATING USAF ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPPORT MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS,

Abstract

A generalized method was developed for estimating administrative and support personnel requirements for the manning of future weapon/support systems. The study has been limited, thus far, to those bases of the Strategic Air Command (SAC), the Tactical Air Command (TAC), the Air Defense Command (ADC), and the Military Air Transport Service (MATS), which are located within the continental United States. A statistical examination of published USAF organization and manning data was carried out and it was found possible to estimate, for weapon systems of each of the major commands, the relationship between numbers of Operations and Maintenance (OM) personnel on the one hand, and numbers of administrative and support personnel, on the other. The specific estimating relationships for the major commands and for the major weapon systems are presented in detail in the section dealing with each command. (Author)
