THE UNMATCHED GUARD METHOD OF MEASURING THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY. II. THE GUARDLESS METHOD,

Abstract

A new system for measuring thermal conductivity at high temperatures is described in detail. The system is based on the Unmatched Guard Method and forms a limiting case of it. The system is easy to assemble and to operate; it has a fast thermal response, and gives results with an uncertainty of only =2.3%, and an imprecision of =1.5%. Results obtained with the new system on Inconel 702 agree very well with previous work. (Author)
