THE STABILISATION OF DETONATION WAVES BY MEANS OF BLUFF BODIES,

Abstract

The flow of a combustible mixture past a bluff body is analysed taking into account the ignition delay, so that a flame-front is formed some distance downstream of the bow shock. From a study of the results of an experiment on a sphere in a ballistic range, approximate criteria for the existence of a Chapman-Jouguet detonation wave are established. (Author)
