DETERMINATION OF THE SHAPE OF A FREE BALLOON. BALLOONS WITH SUPERPRESSURE, SUBPRESSURE AND CIRCUMFERENTIAL STRESS: AND CAPPED BALLOONS

Abstract

Results of the computation of the shape of an axisymmetric free balloon are presented. Flat-top balloons with super pressure, with subpressure, and balloons with circumferential stress are considered. Circumferential stress is both held constant and varied as a function of meridional stress. Certain limitations on circumferential stress are noted. Shapes, meridional stresses, and circumferential stresses are presented. In addition, similar results are presented for capped balloons with a doubleweight cap covering the upper half of the balloon.
