OPERATIONAL NOTES ON A SHIPBOARD COMPUTER.

Abstract

A high speed solid state digital computer was tested and evaluated for use in reducing oceanographic data at sea. Testing took place aboard a Coast Guard vessel for a period of seven months in which the computer was subject to various stresses. The results of these tests and the usefulness of the computer programs indicate that advantages are gained in the speed, accuracy, and precision in which oceanographic data can be evaluated.
