INSTRUMENTATION GROUNDING AND NOISE MINIMIZATION HANDBOOK

Abstract

Material presented in this handbook is general in nature with sufficient information given that an instrumentation engineer or a facility power engineer may apply to his more detailed requirements the fundamentals necessary which will produce a low noise and high accuracy data acquisition system. The information is primarily directed toward modern digital data acquisition systems. Analog systems are considered and details are given for the proper grounding of these devices relative to the elimination of common mode voltages. This handbook provides a common reference for the solution of grounding problems in instrumentation systems and in power systems where the power system is installed nearby and for the purpose of supplying primary power to the data facility.
