PROCEDURE FOR MAINTAINING CONSTANT RANGE AND BEARING RATE BETWEEN MOVING VESSELS,

Abstract

Equations are derived to describe the track, relative course, and speed for the experimental situation wherein a source ship is to travel in a circular path with respect to the position of a target under the assumption that the target is able to maintain constant course and speed but is unable to remain stationary. A restriction is given on the parameters of the solution in order to insure that the minimal radius of curvature along the track is greater than the 'turning radius' of the source ship. Three examples are given. (Author)
