ELECTRON OVERTAKING AS A CAUSE OF INSTABILITY AND TYPE III SOLAR RADIO BURSTS,

Abstract

It is the purpose of this note to suggest a mechanism whereby a time-dependent source of electrons in an otherwise uniform stable plasma may give rise to electrostatic instabilities even though no beam is generated by the source.
