ELECTRON RETARDING POTENTIAL MEASUREMENTS ON CO2, N2O AND NO2,

Abstract

Electron retarding potential curves were obtained from the gases CO2, N2O and NO2 from which estimates were made of several appearance potentials which lie in the ionization continua of each of the gases. Evidence is present in the cases of CO2 of autoionization and in the cases of NO2 and N2O of dissociative ionization. Refinement of the method to the point at which clear evidence of vibrational excitation can be seen is needed. (Author)
