HIGH POWER X-BAND GENERATOR.

Abstract

The purpose of this program is to develop a klystron amplifier operating at 8 kMc and delivering one megawatt of CW power. After its four-hour acceptance test at the 110 kilowatt average power level, the second long pulse tube was operated CW at 350 kilowatts. Waterload arcing prevented stable operation but no damage to the tube occurred. The first of the multi-port tubes was processed and placed on initial test at low average power. Several additional transmission windowtrons were fabricated and tested. An analysis of power flow in coupled-cavities is presented. (Author)
