JANAIR: JOINT ARMY-NAVY AIRCRAFT INSTRUMENTATION RESEARCH. ANALYSIS OF PICTORIAL DISPLAYS

Abstract

Two topics are discussed: (1) Pictorial display potential, and (2) display requirements. The greatest potential use for aircraft pictorial displays lies in their use for those crew tasks that demand the observation of the relations between a great many inherently related variables. The following tasks are discussed: Observation of aircraft performance, navigation, target recognition, and tactics.
