THE DEVELOPMENT OF A DISTRIBUTION PROCEDURE FOR THE ANALYSIS OF CONTINUOUS RECTANGULAR PLATES,

Abstract

The study is concerned with the development of a numerical procedure for the analysis of rectangular plates continuous in two directions over flexurally and torsionally stiff beams and rigid columns of rectangular cross-sections. A reinforced concrete multiple-panel floor slab would be typical of such a structure. However, the analysis does not deal with such problems as inelastic action, creep, and moment redistribution, which are inherent in a reinforced concrete slab. The procedure is such that it is perhaps most useful in research application and certainly is not intended for direct use as a routine design procedure. The application of the method, however, is not limited to the analysis of reinforced concrete floor slabs. It can be extended to cover other fields where continuous plates are used as structural elements.
