A CORRELATIONAL STUDY OF MYOPOTENTIAL RESPONSE AND FORCE OF MUSCLE CONTRACTION DURING VARYING ACTIVITY DEMANDS

Abstract

A major objective of the Philco Bio-Cybernetics Engineering activity has been to develop an optimum degree of compatibility between man and the machines which he used to augment his performance capacity. One phase of study, in the pursuit of this objective, has been developed about a hypothesis that the myoelectric activity associated with muscular contraction could be utilized to control a powered exo-skeletal system designed to amplify one's strength. This phase of study is the subject of this interim report.
