TRANSDUCERS FOR SONIC FATIGUE MEASUREMENTS,

Abstract

The report discusses the machine errors of transducer systems used for the measurement of dynamic input and response data during sonic fatigue testing. The specific types of transducers covered are accelerometers, microphones, and strain gages. The basic operating principles, intrinsic inaccuracies, environmentally related inaccuracies, and usage inaccuracies are described. These inaccuracies are broken down into errors occurring in the transducer, cabling, and signal conditioner, as well as those due to system operation. In addition, methods for minimizing these errors are given. (Author)
