ON THE PROPAGATION OF A SHOCK WAVE IN THE GROUND DURING IMPACT OF A VERY FAST METEORITE AGAINST THE SURFACE OF THE PLANET,

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to show how a hydrodynamic process take place, to establish some of its general rules and explain the results of approximate solution of the problem about the propagation of a shock wave in a gas at centered impact along its surface (at 'point' explosion on the surface). These results appear to indicate that the law of shock wave damping is very close to the law of damping at an explosion in an unlimited medium.
