A NEW METHOD FOR RAPID MEASUREMENT OF THERMAL DIFFUSIVITY AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES WITH AN APPLICATION TO A SANDWICH STRUCTURE,

Abstract

The radiant heating facility recently installed at NOTS has been found useful for rapidly determining thermal properties of materials at elevated temperatures. Complicated guard heaters and careful insulation are unnecessary. This method was applied to a speciment of 'Spacemetal' sandwich material with results in close agreement with those obtained by more conventional methods.
