Abstract

This article comments on a number of surface differences between U. S. and Indian library practices as noted on a short trip to India. Topics covered include social status of librarians, use of typewriters, humidity control, leather bindings, U. S. use of Library of Congress and Dewey classification and cards as contrated with Indian use of U.D.C., and the cataloging problems thereby created, and dictionary vs. classified catalogs. (Author)
