USE OF SHADOWGRAPH MEASUREMENTS FOR QUALITATIVE RESEARCH OF A SUPERSONIC FLOW AROUND A WING PROFILE,

Abstract

The work showed that the shadow method of the slit and the filament in the focus can be successfully applied to the investigation of the flow around models of a supersonic current with a figure for the angles of inclination of about 0.0003 of a radian and sufficiently large dimensions of the model. The distribution of the density obtained by this method corresponds well with the theoretical and enables one to take into account the peculiarities which arise from the deviations of the conditions of the experiment from the ideal ones. The investigations also showed the limitations of the given method. (Author)
