THE OXIDATION OF ARSENIC (III) AND ANTIMONY (III).

Abstract

The kinetics of the Cr(VI)-As(III) reaction have been measured in perchloric acid solutions, acetic acid solutions, acetoc acid-acetate buffers, NH4NO3, and H2PO4 - HPO4 buffers. The reaction shows catalysis by H(+), and HOAc. The general form of the rate laws is given. In phosphate buffers, a Cr(VI).H2PO4 complex is indicated as an oxidizing agent.
