MAGNETIC DIPOLE MOMENTS OF ODD-MASS NUCLEI IN THE SPHERICAL REGION,

Abstract

The magnetic dipole moments of odd-mass nuclei are calculated and compared to the experimental data for nuclei with particles in the 28-126 shells, except for the deformed region of 150 < or = A < or = 190. The wave functions upon which the calculation is based are admixtures of seniority-one wave functions produced by a pairing interaction and obtained by projecting eigenfunctions of the number operator out of Bardeen-type wave functions. Perturbation theory is used to compute the seniority-three admixtures produced by a deltafunction residual interaction. (Author)
