DETERMINATION OF THE SHAPE OF A FREE BALLOON, SUMMARY.
Abstract
The major findings of the study are summarized. Differential equations for the shape, stresses, area, and volume of fully tailored, cylinder, cylinder-end, and taper-tangent balloon designs are given. Design data are presented for fully tailored and cylinder balloons. The accuracy of the data is shown to be well within the requirements for balloon design. Recommendations for further work are included. (Author)
