UPON A GENERAL SYSTEM OF ORTHOGONAL POLYNOMIALS,

Abstract

A general system of orthogonal polynomials, whose coefficients are functions of five parameters, is derived. As a special case of the parameter set this system of polynomials reduces to the classical (Jacobi, Laguerre, etc.) orthogonal polynomials. Further special choices of the parameters lead to entirely new systems of orthogonal polynomials. (Author)
