A RELATION BETWEEN EXPONENTIAL AND POLYNOMIAL METHODS FOR THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS,

Abstract

Two classical methods for the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations are to approximate the function to be integrated either by a polynomial or as the sum of exponentials. The purpose of this note is to demonstrate that polynomial approximation method is a special, degenerate form of the exponential approximation method.
