STUDY OF COLLISION PROCESSES IN GASEOUS PLASMAS.

Abstract

The major portion of the report is comprised of a detailed description of the SLEMA II (Simultaneous Light Emission, Absorption and Mass Analysis) measuring system. The system is designed to measure simultaneously on the same gaseous plasma the time dependence of the number density of electrons, positive and negative ions, and metastable atoms and molecules, while also the intensity of spectral lines and bands can be determined. Summaries are given of results obtained with the SLEMA I system and of a redesign of the auxilliary electronics for an ion mobility measuring tube.
