ARRAY BEAM-FORMING NETWORKS,

Abstract

This technical note presents a brief description of the various types of beam-forming networks and their salient characteristics. Particular emphasis is placed upon the differences between time delay and phase shift and the problems arising from multiple reflections within the network. Some practical networks are described and the physical limitations of multiple beam-forming networks are discussed briefly. This material was originally assembled as a tutorial presentation on the subject matter. (Author)
