AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE LIQUID LAYER INSTABILITIES OF AN ABLATING BODY,

Abstract

The paper presents experimental evidence which shows that for pyrex and soda-lime glass, ring wave instability occurs at high stagnation pressure and temperature. It demonstrates that for a similar nylon model the ablation process is different. In light of the observations made during the test series, the importance of the parameters involved is discussed.
