THE DEVELOPMENT OF A GAS LUBRICATED BEARING BLOWER ASSEMBLY FOR USE IN AN AN/TED-9 RADIO TRANSMITTER.

Abstract

Investigations were conducted to determine the magnitude of electrical magnetic loads and their effect on hydrodynamic gas bearing load capacity and stability. Evaluations were also conducted to determine effect of shaft fabrication techniques on hydrodynamic gas bearing performance. The design and initial development of a gas lubricated blower containing magnetic thrust bearings suitable for cooling an AN/TED-9 radio transmitter is described. A transistorized converter for use in driving the blower motor is also discussed. (Author)
