Alpha-Ferrocenylcarbonium Salts

Abstract

It was previously shown that the treatment of diphenylferrocenyl carbinol with an acid resulted in the formation of 6,6-diphenyl fulvene. Ferrocenyl carbonium salts of the acid have now been isolated as intermediates in the reaction. A detailed study was made of the properties of the stable perchlorate and tetraphenylborate salts of ferrocenylphenyl carbonium.
