THEORIES OF THERMAL TRANSPIRATION AND MOLECULAR EFFUSION,

Abstract

Revised theories of thermal transpiration and molecular effusion are presented in a rigorous treatment. It is a modified version of the classical laws of Reynolds and Graham. A set of invariants and a new geometrical property (Isotropicity) are found in a system with nonuniform temperature distribution on the boundary in the Knudsen regime. The reciprocal transmission probability theorem is proved to be valid in this stationary state system according to the invariant of number flux throughout the region. (Author)
