GENERATION OF INFRAMILLIMETRIC WAVES BY MEANS OF ELECTRONIC BEAMS.

Abstract

It is desired to extend the state of the art of O-type carcinotron oscillators to the generation of submillimeter waves down to 0.3 mm. A 0.4 mm. tube was operated satisfactorily in C.W. condition. A few milliwatts were obtained on the band between 682 and 766 Gc/s. The overall design of guns and tubes was improved. High voltage handling can now be obtained over the ten kilovolts range.
