ON THE NOISE TEMPERATURE OF COUPLING NETWORKS,

Abstract

The relationship T = S/L + N(1-1/L) is derived where S is the noise temperature of the source, N is the temperature of the coupling network, T is the noise temperature at the output (under matched conditions), and L is the coupling-network power loss ratio, for a passive coupling network which is used to connect a source to a receiver.
