SCATTERING OF LOW ENERGY K(-) MESONS BY NUCLEI,

Abstract

Experiments on the elastic scattering of K(-) mesons by nuclei are described. In general, the interpretation of these experiments, based on the optical model, was that the real part of the K(-)-nucleus potential is attractive and of the order of 20 MeV. Since there appears to be some suggestion of a change in the depth of the potential with energy, investigation was made of the lowest practical K(-)-meson energies.
