GEOMETRY OF THE MAGNETOSPHERIC TAIL AND AURORAL CURRENT SYSTEMS,

Abstract

Consequences of the measured magnetic field configuration are considered, and it is suggested that if the energetic charged particles in the neutral sheet were predominantly of one sign then this would result in ionospheric current systems and in important modifications of the co-rotation of low energy plasma in the magnetosphere.
