WHY ARE THE CHINESE NERVOUS.

Abstract

The paper describes the development by Chinese Communist leaders, between October 1, 1959, and April 1, 1960, of an analysis of and a declared policy concerning the current international situation, with particular reference to the prospects for peaceful coexistence. Chinese Communist conditional acceptance of a role in disarmament negotiations is analyzed in this context. Areas of difference between the Soviet and Chinese Communist positions are identified and an estimate is made of their significance. (Author)
