WAVES IN MATERIALS WITH MEMORY. IV. THERMODYNAMICS AND THE VELOCITY OF GENERAL ACCELERATION WAVES.

Abstract

Wave propagation in general materials with memory is discussed. It is shown that the theory of acceleration waves in such materials can be based on the notion of an instantaneous acoustic tensor. It is proven that the Second Law of Thermodynamics implies the symmetry of this acoustic tensor.
