THE R AND D ORGANIZATION'S FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH ACTIVITY AS A WINDOW BETWEEN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY,

Abstract

The fundamental research activities of an R and D organization are presented as important both for providing specific research results in areas of potential pay-off for the organization and in providing a window between science and technology. The need and potential for the latter activity are inherent in the recognition that a very large portion of the scientific research on which a given technology depends is always done by other organizations. The discussion deals primarily with the opportunities and techniques for providing this window. (Author)
