TECHNIQUE FOR PULSING THE ELECTRON BEAM OF A VAN DE GRAAFF PARTICLE ACCELERATOR.

Abstract

The need for a pulsed high energy gamma source as a research tool, with the capability of changing the pulse profile, is filled by slightly modifying a Van de Graaff accelerator set up to run in a gnegative mode. The modification consists of triggering by means of an external pulsed light source. The light pulse is sensed and followed by a photo cell located in the control pentode on the high voltage terminal. (Author)
