TRANSITION PROBABILITIES FOR PERMITTED AND FORBIDDEN LINES OF SI X, FEXIV AND FE X (1),

Abstract

Transition probabilities were calculated for forbidden transitions within the 2s22p and 2s2p2 configurations and for permitted transitions in the array 2s22p - 2s2p2 of Si X. The energy levels of the 3s3p2 and 3s23d configurations in Fe XIV were predicted by extrapolation along the isoelectronic sequence. Transition probabilities were calculated for forbidden transitions within the (3s3p2 + 3s23d) configurations and for permitted transitions in the arrays 3s23p - 3s3p2 and 3s23p - 3s23d of Fe XIV. Some preliminary results are given for the 3s23p5 - 3s3p6 and 3s23p5 - 3s23p43d arrays in Fe X. The effect of departures from L.S. coupling due to spinorbit interaction and configuration interaction is discussed. (Author)
