ACOUSTIC INTERACTION FOR LINEAR ARRAYS OF SMALL MAGNETOSTRICTIVE-STACK SONAR TRANSDUCERS AT AN AIR-WATER SURFACE.

Abstract

Experiments and a theoretical development for the acoustic interaction among small transducers in linear arrays of two, three, and four at an air-water surface are described. The interaction radiation resistance is studied as a function of number, spacing, relative position, relative phase, and relative amplitude of the transducers. Suggestions as to ways of eliminating deleterious interaction are presented. (Author)
